Episode 7. Tracy Does Conan July 30, 2007

The movie time stamp says C. Affleck (perhaps a reference to Casey Affleck) and Tom Houghton (was cinematographer for this episode of 30 Rock).

David Hasselhoff is a judge on NBC’s America’s Got Talent.

Conan calls Jack a “black Irish bastard”.

Bryn Mawr is a college in Pennsylvania.

There is a GE toaster in back of Pete in Jack’s office.

Liz tells Kenneth to go to 46th and 8th. There doesn’t seem to be much there.

Episode 6. Jack Meets Dennis July 29, 2007

According to a quick search done on Google, there are still several stores that appear to sell beepers.

Episode 5. Jack-Tor July 29, 2007

Tracy says he’s got to go to Damon Dash’s birthday party.

While Jack is speaking with the writers about product integration, Liz exclaims “We’re not your shills.” A shill is a person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, or friendship or loyalty.

Jack sarcastically says the writers are artists like James Joyce (one of the most influential writers of the 20th century) and August Strindberg (one of the fathers of modern theatre).

According to this, Holland’s national dog is the Keeshond.

Frank says he’s got a friend in accounting named Lando Calrissian. Lando is a fictional character from Star Wars.

In 1999, Sweden graduated about 41% of students from secondary schools. According to this, in 2001, Philadelphia graduated about 70%. Chicago, the study found, graduates 47 percent of its students; New York, 54 percent; and Los Angeles, 56 percent.

General 30 Rock Trivia July 29, 2007

In the opening credits, there is a crest that reads “dieu et mon droit”. This translates to “God and my right”. This is at 620 5th Ave on the British Empire Building.

There are lots of references to Star Wars and politics throughout the episodes.

Many names that are affiliated with NBC are mentioned in the show.

 

Episode 4. Jack the Writer July 29, 2007

During the 1-minute dance party, the writers dance to “Grown and Sexy” (Chamillionaire).

Frank thinks that six sigma is a special type of GI JOE. Although there is no “six sigma” GI JOE, there are a bunch of special ones.

Jack’s story in the writer’s room mentions “Brokaw”. Tom Brokaw is a former NBC news anchor.

Yankee Stadium is about 8 miles away from 30 Rock. This is about 17 minutes if driving.

Jack says he was at a luncheon for Ann Coulter’s 60th birthday. Ann Coulter was born in 1961, making her about 46 years old.

When Liz and Pete talk about going to apologize to Jack, Pete presses the down button on the elevator, but Liz says she hates going “up to Jack’s office.”

Much of Liz and Pete’s conversation before going to Jack’s office references Star Wars.

On his bike ride home, Kenneth sings “There’s No Business Like Show Business”.

 

Episode 3. Blind Date July 28, 2007

During the “Robot/Bear” practice, Frank says that bears have weak knees. There doesn’t appear to be any evidence to support this.

Jack mentions Reiki.

The TV in Jack’s office seen behind Liz looks like a fake.

According to this, there were 13 arrests for subway groping in New York in a week.

When Liz is choking in her apartment, she is watching Deal or No Deal.

Liz thinks she might be going out with Tom DeLay.

During the flashback to Liz’s school years, she wears a shirt that says “White Haven H.S.” There doesn’t appear to be a school with that name but there is a Whitehaven High School (no space in Whitehaven) in Tennessee.

Jack mentions Kenneth’s Myers-Briggs type. Find out what you are!

Jack says Kenneth is extraverted, intuitive, and aggressive. Aggressive isn’t one of the Myers-Briggs types but according to this, aggressive is ENTJ (Extraverted, iNtuitive, Thinking, and Judging). According to this, ENTJ’s are 3-5%.

Thomas thinks Liz looks like Jennifer Jason Leigh. Jack thought she meant to say Jason Lee.

The writers say Liz looks like present-day Linda Ronstadt, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Tootsie.

Jack quotes the Italians for saying “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer” although this website credits Sun-tzu (Chinese general). Apparently a similar quote was also said in the Godfather Pt.2.

Episode 2. The Aftermath July 27, 2007

Jack mentions a chemical plant explosion outside of Colorado Springs. In fact, there is a GE plant about 15 miles from Colorado Springs in Fountain, CO.

The band for Tracy is playing “Celebration” (Kool and the Gang)

Frank and others watch The Girlie Show – Cat Attack clip on YouTube. It isn’t actually posted.

Tracy’s bling include a necklace with his initials (TJ) and #1.

Tracy says he’s “easy like Sunday morning.” This is a reference to the song “Easy Like Sunday Morning”.

As Jenna and Liz are walking out of Jenna’s dressing room, there is a man carrying a cutout of Darth Vader.

Tracy calls Toofer “Theo Huxtable”. Theo Huxtable was Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s character on The Cosby Show.

Liz gets several things thrown at her in the writer’s room including Frank’s sandwich, an empty water bottle, an orange (or an orange ball), snacks, a sneaker, a plastic baseball bat (?), an computer tower (?), and a milky liquid with cereal.

A poster of Black Cop White Cop can be seen in Tracy’s dressing room.

Tracy says he’s read Jenna’s interview in Amtrak Magazine. Although it does not appear that there is such a magazine, Amtrak does have a magazine called Arrive. The writer’s don’t appear to be conductors.

Toofer gets a bottle of “Dunwoody ’62”. This isn’t a real alcohol.

On the yacht, they dance to “Bossy” (Kelis).

In the yacht, Jenna sings “New York State of Mind” (Billy Joel).

When Liz surprises Maria, the maid on the yacht, Maria says “Por favor, no me duele, me llamo Maria.” This translates to “Please don’t hurt me. My name is Maria.”

 

Episode 1. Pilot July 25, 2007

Liz and Tracy meet at Alfredo’s restaurant.

Liz asks the Lee (the costume guy) for some clothes. Lee gives Liz a matronly dress suit and says “Laura Bush is your size.” Evidently, during the 2001 Inauguration, Laura Bush was a size 8.

Liz thinks she looks like the President of the Philippines. Maybe she has a point.

The diner where Tracy takes Liz for lunch is actually the M & G Diner, located at 383 125th St. NY, NY.

Tracy sings Love is a Battlefield (Pat Benetar) in the topless bar, Dark Sensations.

Tracy was in Scottie Pippen’s wedding (former Chicago Bulls basketball player).
